Vocational Education Ph.D Camp 2016: Digital Media In Vocational Education

Background

As the needs of learners are continuously changing, the development of teaching through which instructional materials are delivered moves forwards to the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which facilitates learners to interact in the classroom as well as to learn autonomously. Meanwhile, computer technology continues to evolve rapidly, resulting in the improvements on the ability to process information, graphic display, and performance speed that highly affect the models of delivering teaching materials.

Real situations presented on sites indicate the employment of ICT in transferring knowledge using the form of digitized media. This media digitization gives signicant contributions to teaching, e-learning, and online evaluation such as Computer Based Test (CBT). However, it cannot be as widely used in direct learning interactions, such as drafting and design.

The issues related to the use of ICT are always interesting to be discussed, especially by teachers, students, and researchers. Thus, a forum where all of these issues can be shared is of high importance. PhD Camp 2016, which serves as one of the forums, highlights the development of media digitization, focusing on its current implementation. Hopefully it will provide great opportunities for participants who come from various institutions to widen their perspectives of the topic and also their access to international networking.
